MISTRESS Sign With EARACHE RECORDS

August 2, 2004

U.K. grind/hardcore act MISTRESS have signed a deal with Earache Records.

Formed in Birmingham during 1999, MISTRESS have released two albums to date — "Mistress" and "The Chronovisor" — to rave reviews and have gigged with the likes of NAPALM DEATH, MAYHEM, ELECTRIC WIZARD, BOLT THROWER and EXTREME NOISE TERROR. Their hard-to-pin-down sound comes across as a sickening sludge/grind/doom hybrid, reminsicent of the early U.K. grind scene of the late '80s and early '90s, and has been described as "a vile musical bastard, a bilious, screaming, snot-faced sludge orphan with all the taste and decorum of a sexual encounter in Wormwood Scrubbs."

Commenting on their new union, MISTRESS' Dave Cunt enthused, "MISTRESS are both drunk with joy and just plain drunk over our signing with Earache. MISTRESS have ourselves been fans of various bands on the label since the early MOSH days and now it's great to join the list of acts associated with the Earache stable in our own right. So raise a glass/dirty needle/cup of urine, here's to the next album of filth — this time with Earache written on it!"

Plans are now in the pipeline for the forthcoming release of new MISTRESS album, "In Disgust We Trust", via Earache in early 2005. A split 7" with VENOMOUS CONCEPT (featuring members of NAPALM DEATH, MELVINS and BRUTAL TRUTH) is also planned.
